Can I use my Groupon or Living Social voucher for a ghost tour?

Absolutely. If you purchased a Groupon for our DineAround program, you can exchange it for SIX ghost tour admissions! If you purchased a Ghost Tour Groupon for the 2011 FALL season, your Groupon expired as of 10/30/11 and is not valid for our winter tours. If you purchased a Living Social offer, contact us for a reservation! Reservations are required, as tours do book up quickly. Email us or call us at 484/553-3024.

    Ghost Tour Information

What is a ghost tour?

A ghost tour is a walking tour that stops at various locations, where your guide will share the ghostlore related to each location, allowing you to draw your own conclusions. We will not enter any buildings, as they are privately owned.

Do I have to believe in ghosts to enjoy the tour?

Nope! Your enjoyment of the tour is enhanced by your open-mindedness, enthusiasm, and good humor, but your beliefs are fairly irrelevant. You can have a good time regardless of what you believe. Check some of our feedback!

Do the guides wear costumes?

Yes, indeed (weather permitting for our fall tours; no costumes in December). We believe that traditional dress adds to the mystique of the tour and enhances your enjoyment of it. Listening to stories told by someone wearing a 5-hoop skirt is much better than listening to the same stories told by a chump in a t-shirt, ya know?

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $12.50 each.

What is the difference between the Fall tours and the Winter tours?

Winter tours feature stories we don’t have time to tell on the Fall version and include some special multimedia features! We also stop to allow guests to purchase hot drinks to stave off the chill.

Are you the only tour in the area?

We are not. Another tour runs in the Downtown area as well. We recommend that you check out both tours for a truly well-rounded ghostly experience!

Should I bring a camera?

Cameras are certainly permitted! Often, guests will digitally capture events that are not apparent to the naked eye. If you do capture something intriguing, feel free to post it on our Facebook page!
Please note that video cameras or audio recorders are not permitted on the tour, however.

From where does the tour depart?

The tour begins and ends at 1 W. Broad Street in Bethlehem. Meet us on the terrace, near the ATM.

How long is the tour?

The tours run between 60 and 90 minutes.

How does the ticket process work?

Purchase your ticket on the website via the Events page. Once you receive your confirmation, bring it with you to the tour; it’s your ticket.

What if I decide to come to a tour at the last minute?

Just show up and we will try to accommodate you. Please note that we do cap our tours to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests.

Where should I park?

Meter parking is available in the City until 9pm; free spots are located near the library and on the lower part of New Street. Free parking is also available on Market Street. The parking garage is open as well and costs $1/hour.

Is the tour accessible?

We’ll be traveling on city sidewalks, some of which include fairly steep grades. Please consider scoping out the areas of New, Market, Main, and Church Streets prior to purchasing tickets. We will make every effort to accommodate your needs, but ultimately, your personal safety is your own responsibility.

Is the tour appropriate for children?

The tour will discuss various manners of death and haunting, so please assess your child’s tolerance accordingly. Strollers and carried children will not be permitted due to safety.

Is the tour scary?

We do not use “haunted house” stunts or fabricated experiences of any kind. If you see something, it’s real! The ghostlore does contain adult themed material, however, so again, plan accordingly.

Will I see a ghost?

We can’t assure that, but we can’t avoid it, either. If it happens, you’ll know.

Are the stories true?

Absolutely. Everything you hear on the tour is the result of primary or secondary research or family lore. In fact, part of the motivation for the tour is to share stories that haven’t ever been told outside the immediate family. You can trace our data back to birth and death records, as well as other records of local events.

What should I wear/bring?

Wear a good pair of walking shoes. The tour is less than a mile, but we’ll be walking on some uneven pavement under evening skies. Dress for the temperature as well; wearing layers is a good idea. You may bring a flashlight. The tour runs rain or shine, so grab an umbrella if necessary!

You give tours in the rain?

Sure! Rain adds to the ambiance, but if the weather is extreme, we’ll reschedule. Thunder and lightning, floods, tornadoes, random plagues, and an invasion by Redcoats could warrant a rescheduling of the tour.

Are you some kind of wise guy?

Some would say yes, and I would say this: If you don’t have a sense of humor, this is not the tour for you. Seriously!

Do you give group tours?

We do! Nothing says “fun” like bringing together a group of people who enjoy one another’s company for an evening of ghostly adventure. Use our contact page and we’ll work it out!

Do you give refunds?

Tickets are non-refundable, but we can attempt to reschedule your tour, if possible. However, please note that late in the season, rescheduling is very unlikely. We also cannot provide refunds in the event of severe weather or other circumstances outside of our control. Please purchase your tickets at your own risk.

What if members of the tour are disruptive, unruly, or drunk?

We reserve the right to deny tour access to anyone under the influence of alcohol, engaging in unruly behavior, or acting in an aggressive or unsafe manner. The safety and comfort of our guests are paramount, and we will not tolerate behavior that compromises the experience of others participating in the tour. Basic message: Don’t be a jerk. Use good judgment and manners, and respect the rights of others.

Does that mean I can’t heckle my guide?

There’s a big difference between appropriate, humorous banter between guide and group and disrespectful, ill-timed commentary that distracts or offends the group. If you’re unsure whether your comments are appropriate, stay quiet. Again, our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable experience for all of our guests, and rudeness will not be tolerated. Use your good judgment.

Should I tip my guide if I enjoyed my tour?

That’s entirely up to you. We welcome your appreciation, but it’s not required. Thank you in advance if you decide to show your appreciation with a tip! Our guides work hard to provide you with a quality experience.

What about smoking?

For the comfort of all guests, please refrain from smoking on the tour.

If I step off a curb the wrong way, can I sue you or the City of Bethlehem for rendering me unfit for tomorrow’s tennis match?

Our lawyers say no. Your purchase of your ticket relieves us and the City of any liability.

Who is this LVTG, anyway? What’s your deal?

LVTG is actually a sole-proprietorship. We are a local couple with deep roots in the Lehigh Valley. Christine has lived in this area from a very young age (spent many of her formative years right over there on West Garrison Street, as a matter of fact), and her family settled in South Bethlehem before that, fresh off the boat from Hungary. She has a masters in English, which means that she loves research and writing, and that passion shines through in our tours. Matthew was raised in Northampton just like many generations before him (dad and grandma still live on Main Street, as a matter of fact). Matt prefers to stay “behind the scenes” (and that’s probably in your best interest, we assure you). The idea for this tour has been years in the making, and we are thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to share it with you. We are committed to providing you with a quality, memorable experience — one that you can recommend to your friends and family. If you think you can bear our rapier wit and sparkling personalities, grab your tickets right now.

Do you offer tours in other areas?

We’re getting there!
